Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills or staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bins, refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and an intuitive app that lets you pick the exact kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too and the robot vacuums best is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station shows the maintenance tasks that are required including emptying the debris tray and robot vacuum washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, using a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can run for 136 minutes in standard mode, before needing recharging or returning to the base. You can also view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is intuitively laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would have liked to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with two agitators in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power which allows it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners could miss.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons which include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount itself to wash it manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's lifespan. You'll need to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and innovative features. Its innovative design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum can clean up dry mess, including pet hair and food particles. It has a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brushes, which lets it get into hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture such as table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to reach under furniture that is low-profile making it an ideal option for smaller apartments and condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice touch that helps the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by excessive back-and-forth movements.

Contrary to other robots which solely focus on one task, the X40 can perform mopping and vacuuming at the same time or in a series. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operations.

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, switch modes, look at floor plans and maps, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features which make it a good option for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also detect if the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. However, it has many characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

Its mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen on other robot best automatic vacuum cleaner and mop models. It could be a great way to keep your home clean longer.

There are many options, including the option to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also offers a number of features that aren't available on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks sophisticated and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots listed on this list however it's not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. They can also extend to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice touch.
