The iRobot Roomba 980 robot cleaner vacuum and mop combo Cleaner

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the latest in the series of top-of-the-line robot Vacuum Mop Robot cleaners that are an essential part of every modern household. This model is equipped with a HEPA filter that can aid those suffering from allergies. It also comes with a large battery that can clean for two hours and returns to its dock automatically when the bin is full.

It also has a feature called smart mapping that uses multiple sensors to help identify the areas of your home that require attention and create a cleaning route around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of maneuvering around toys that are left scattered on the floor or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. It also has a camera that snaps the Roomba back to reality when it starts to drift from its actual location.

iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers underneath the Roomba's bottom that do not have bristles, and thus tend to be more resistant to tangles than earlier models. They're also a bit higher than the older rollers and can better fit under beds and couches that are low, and they're designed to allow this model to move more easily on varying floor kinds.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other high-end models, though, is its incorporation of the latest dirt detection feature that utilizes cameras to identify tiny bits of dirt. This is a significant improvement over the previous version that relied on the use of a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover to bounce around the room and clean the area three times, at different angles.

The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on carpets and hard floors. It scored highly on low-pile carpet and also on mid-pile. It did a fair job of picking up pet hair, but it was struggling with extremely thick and long pet fur that was clumped together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the best performing robots in our list, despite these minor Vacuum Mop Robot limitations. It's also less expensive than other top-of the-line models. It's got plenty of features we'd expect to find in a flagship model however, it doesn't come with all the fancy apps or smart home integration that are found in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and start running right away. After taking off the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from its undercarriage, all you need to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, press its big "Clean" button, and let it go to work. It will return to its dock when its battery is out or it's stuffed with debris. It also has indicator lights on the top of the device to indicate that its bin is full or it needs to be recharged or its Wi-Fi signal has gone out.
