It also houses a 2.5-liter dust bin as well as the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning and then recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to switch on the child lock, which is a nice option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more precise at recognizing objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with an obstruction, such as the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not come with a "stuck" status alert in its application.

Another issue that could be a problem is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy units.
