Path of Exile item level upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be more heavy.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. Weapons

Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. All tiers of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a certain level to obtain these. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with another jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. You are able to replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is common to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than steel so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but useful advantages. They are available in the start-up area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand they will select either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also discover other trinkets in form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating a boss.
