The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic hoover bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot vacuum cleaner best which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
