World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item level upgrade gets upgraded, its stats improve in value. This is the sum of all of its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item upgrading. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the item level.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the Best item upgrade's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is carried out. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by naming them.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.

Upgrades to items are expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item upgrading are rendered above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
