The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
