WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item Level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item upgrader kit's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item upgrade level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
