However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

It's still enough time to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). That's not to say this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your best home vacuum cleaner, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and works better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation options.
