WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item upgrades that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrades and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain Best item upgrade level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an Item Level Upgrade (Maps.Google.Nr) is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade items their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
