French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door refrigerators blend form and function. They have stylish double doors that show the large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features like door-to-door dispensers, ice machines with higher-end features and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the crowd.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They considered the capacity of storage, layout and energy efficiency as well as other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that GE's Profile series targets those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with them all from a Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a sophisticated dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive, so I expected better.

Apart from that minor flaw however, this refrigerator is a great option. It features a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment has 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on par for the size of a French door fridge costing this much. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker that is tucked away in the left-hand door, although it's not the biggest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. Its LED lighting is a nice feature and the storage bins come with an additional shelf that folds up beneath itself to allow you to store items that are tall. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also comes with numerous options for customizing. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill which is a feature that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to choose the amount of cups they wish to disperse. The fridge displays a countdown timer to reveal how much water is left however it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth french door fridge next to wall Door Refrigerator

Created to appear like a seamless piece of your kitchen, Bosch's french door fridge sale-door refrigerator is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. This fridge is the perfect choice for single household or kitchenettes looking for a sleek design and top of the line food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for a few reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving by more than a fraction one degree. This is crucial to preventing freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the initial temperature within a matter of hours, and remained at the temperature throughout our testing.

It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge is built with an ordinary French door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set crisper drawers. The upper right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more space. You'll also find a full width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

One of the best aspects of this refrigerator is that its Ice maker is located in the freezer, which makes it easy to move the ice to the refrigerator to use as required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of your items. It also has a large container for storing frozen food and a separate bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is another cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and more of your fridge from your smartphone. It's a simple method to keep track of your refrigerator and manage it, especially when you're not at home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator than other refrigerators we test. This is likely due to its larger capacity.

Another issue with the doors of this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a fridge with a French door with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also less expensive than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire french door fridge opening space door refrigerator is a great choice for those looking for a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a simple fridge that might not be as attractive as some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make a suitable option. Its most significant feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is another great feature. This drawer allows you to redirect a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power into this area so that you can store foods which need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the whole fridge, however, I've found that changing the general settings tends have a better effect than specific ones.

During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite rank among the best in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
