WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrade used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrades however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item level upgrade like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make.
