PSS Sleman played against Persebaya Surabaya in the opening match of BRI Liga 1. At Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Sunday (August 11, 2024) night WIB, Super Elang Jawa lost 0-1 to Persebaya. Persebaya was defeated 0-3 by Barito Putera in a preseason test match. However, according to coach Paul Munster, that result cannot be taken as a reference. "We have already conducted evaluations, but we focus on the performance in Liga 1," said Munster. "We only focus on Liga 1. Persib Bandung started the new BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season with a commanding win. Facing last season’s Liga 2 champions, PSBS Biak, Maung Bandung secured a 4-1 triumph. Persib’s goals were scored by David da Silva with a brace, and single goals from Beckham Putra and Ciro Alves. PSBS Biak managed to pull one back with a goal from Alexsandro Ferreira. With this win, Persib tops the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 standings with three points, while PSBS Biak is at the bottom.
