PSIS Semarang has undergone significant changes ahead of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season, with many key players moving on. Two crucial local defenders, Fredyan Wahyu and Wahyu Prasetyo, have transferred to Malut United. They follow Hari Nur Yulianto, who also joined Malut United last season. PSIS Semarang also lost a vital foreign player, Taisei Marukawa, who transferred to Dewa United. PSIS mentioned foreign player regulations as a reason for Marukawa’s departure. However, PSIS has made new signings to strengthen the squad, including Zalnando, who was loaned from Persib Bandung. Additionally, promising young players Aulia Rahman (17) and Rahmat Syawal (18) are expected to make a significant impact. Persija Jakarta started their BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season with a commanding display. They defeated Barito Putera 3-0 in their Week 1 match at Jakarta International Stadium on Saturday (August 10, 2024). Gustavo Almeida shone brightly, netting a hat-trick with one goal in the first half and two more in the second. With this win, Persija joins Persib Bandung and PSM Makassar at the top of the standings, all having achieved big wins.

The match saw Persija come out aggressively from the start. Almeida opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header that was deflected by Buyung Ismu. Barito Putera pushed forward and created several opportunities but could not find the equalizer before the break. After the break, Barito continued to apply pressure, but it was Persija who extended their lead with an Almeida penalty in the 71st minute. Almeida completed his hat-trick with another goal 10 minutes later, securing a 3-0 victory for Persija. The scoreline remained 3-0 until the final whistle.

Arema FC has been active in the transfer market up until the last day of the BRI Liga 1 transfer window for the early 2024/2025 season. Singo Edan has filled their quota of eight foreign players for the 2024/2025 season. Pablo Oliveira is the latest foreign player recruited by Arema FC. The 29-year-old adds a significant Brazilian influence to Arema FC. Arema FC is now bolstered by five Brazilian players: Dalberto, Lucas Frigeri, Thales Lira, William Marcilio, and Pablo Oliveira. Moreover, Arema FC has a Brazilian head coach and assistant coach. On the other hand, Persija Jakarta has offloaded many of their young players. 17 academy graduates have been transferred to other clubs, some on loan.
