WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrade from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item upgrader mod is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain item upgrader mod level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same Item Level Upgrade level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
