WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item level upgrade (just click the up coming document) by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrading, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item upgrading's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item upgrade slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade items could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
