World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade items, so they aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. In some cases this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades on its own.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally beneficial but it can also have negative consequences too. For items that only see use in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you have an extremely lucky roll.

Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their performance. For instance, if you have a helm or chest, this will increase its base defense while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain after upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that the weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 fewer times, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the menu for items. The item level upgrade will be rerolled and change its statistics, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you will get out of each point of health therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them, and each requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and completed the corresponding fountain, you can then contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you'll need at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a decent-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, granting the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.

You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or the power of spells. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear by the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have some upgrades for the chest armor and helmets to allow you to get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, provide a temporary effect. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. In addition, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.

Upgrades to potion require a certain amount of XP. This can be earned through crafting them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the upgrade price is dependent on the type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item upgrades's Mark Level and rarity.

To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens an GUI in which you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP count.

When a poton is upgraded, it will not degrade in the event that you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is kept. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.

Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions, for example have now a duration of zero, not the 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display of the item. The potion table is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be combined in cauldrons. This is the same for using a potion within the cauldron that is filled. This will deplete the potion, and refill the bottle.

Finally, there are lingering potions, which are brewed with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potion ingredients is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, like the potion of leaping and decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't essential as a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.

Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons, armor, and potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing statistics.

The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the old trinket, but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Once the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as rings or cloaks). When deciding the items to upgrade, players must also be aware of the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.

When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket, unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying a new one.
