WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrading used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrading will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item upgrader kit and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item level upgrade is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item upgrader mod level will cost less. The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
