Persib Bandung began the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season with a resounding victory. Facing last season’s Liga 2 champions, PSBS Biak, Maung Bandung secured a 4-1 triumph. The goals for Persib were scored by a brace from David da Silva, and one each from Beckham Putra and Ciro Alves. PSBS Biak managed to pull one back with a goal from Alexsandro Ferreira. This victory places Persib at the top of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 standings with three points, while PSBS Biak is at the bottom.

In the second half, PSBS Biak increased their attacking intensity, trying to level the score. Just seven minutes into the half, PSBS managed to equalize at 1-1 with a goal from Alexsandro Ferreira. Persib quickly answered this goal. In the 65th minute, Persib took back the lead at 2-1 when Beckham Putra headed in a cross from Ciro Alves. Eleven minutes later, Ciro Alves scored with a well-placed shot to make it 3-1. In the final minutes, Persib added another goal to make it 4-1. Ciro Alves provided a measured pass to David Da Silva, who converted it into a goal. The score of 4-1 remained until the final whistle.

The match, held at Stadion Si Jalak Harupat, was intense from the start. Both teams were engaged in a back-and-forth exchange of attacks. The first significant chance came when David Da Silva capitalized on a corner by Mailson, but the ball went wide of PSBS Biak’s goal. In the 18th minute, Persib took the lead. Starting from a counterattack, Dimas Drajad delivered a cross from the right, which David Da Silva converted into a goal. Persib led 1-0 at this point. The lead boosted Persib’s confidence, leading them to press on, but the score stayed 1-0 until the break.

Although PSS Sleman lost in the first week of BRI Liga 1, they shouldn’t be at the bottom of the table. There are four other teams that also lost and have worse goal differences. Nevertheless, PSS Sleman is at the bottom of the standings according to PT LIB. Additionally, there is a note stating that PSS Sleman’s points have been deducted by three. This means that PSS Sleman began the season with a -3 point situation! Why did PSS Sleman receive a three-point deduction? Currently, there is no explanation from the club, PT LIB, or PSSI. However, a hint has been provided by FX Harminanto, a journalist from Kedaulatan Rakyat. According to Harminanto, PSS Sleman received a (-3) point sanction from the PT Liga Indonesia Baru standings table. This is related to a previous issue that affected the team in 2018.
