Jaimerson Xavier will not be joining Bhayangkara FC in Liga 2. The ex-defender of Persija Jakarta and Persis Solo has opted to join PSBS Biak, which has been promoted to BRI Liga 1 2024/2025. Jaime had participated in pre-season with Bhayangkara FC, and even scored in a friendly match against PSIS Semarang. However, he chose to represent PSBS for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old has signed a short-term contract for the upcoming season. "Everything is finalized, and he will be joining the team shortly," said Yan Permenas Mandenas, President of PSBS, in a release. Jaime has already joined PSBS in Biak and is expected to be ready to play against PSM Makassar on August 16, 2024, at Stadion Kapten I Wayan Dipta, Gianyar. "Our goal is to strengthen our defense, and we hope Jaime will enhance and solidify our backline," Yan Mandenas added. Jaime becomes the eighth foreign player at PSBS following Alexsandro from Brazil, Abel Arganaraz from Argentina, Gabriel Esparza from Argentina, Williams Lugo from Colombia, Takuya Matsunaga from Japan, Jonata Machado from Brazil, and Julian Velazquez from Argentina. Jaime first played in Liga 1 in 2018. In his debut season, the Brazil and Portugal league veteran led Macan Kemayoran to the championship.

In terms of regulations for youth players, BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 will implement new rules. Each club is required to field at least one player under 22 years old (U-22) for a minimum of 45 minutes per game. Clubs are exempt from this requirement if two or more of their players are called up to the Indonesian National Team. In contrast, the 2023/2024 season had a requirement to play U-23 players, but this regulation was abolished towards the end of the season.

The head-to-head record between PSS Sleman and Persebaya is not favorable. In the last six encounters, PSS has never won against Bajul Ijo. During this period, Persebaya won three times, and the remaining three matches ended in draws. Persebaya has a strong roster, including Francisco Rivera, who was the best player in BRI Liga 1 2023/2024. However, this does not make PSS captain Kim Kurniawan concede defeat before the match. "Rivera had an outstanding season with Madura United FC last year and was a crucial player for the team. We need to control Rivera’s movement to limit his impact on Persebaya's play," Kim said.

The most significant change in BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 is the competition system. Unlike the 2023/2024 season, there will be no more Regular Series or Championship Series. These stages have been eliminated, meaning there will no longer be semifinals or finals. The champion of BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 will be the team that finishes at the top of the standings at the end of the season. "The club that occupies the 1st position in the final BRI Liga 1 2024/25 standings will be declared the champion of BRI Liga 1," states Article 9, Section 6 of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 regulations.

Changes to foreign player regulations are also notable. For the 2024/2025 season, each club is allowed to contract up to eight foreign players. There is no restriction on the countries of origin for these players. However, there are regulations regarding the competitive tier of the clubs where the players are from. From the eight foreign players, only six can be on the field at the same time. This is a change from the 2023/2024 season, where clubs could contract six foreign players with five being unrestricted and one from ASEAN.
