ASUS JAPAN Co., Ltd. will release the 6.78-inch gaming smartphones "ROG Phone 6 Pro" and "ROG Phone 6" equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on October 7th. The former is priced at 169,800 yen, and the latter at 129,800 yen (12GB memory) or 149,800 yen (16GB memory).

Both models are flagship smartphones that use the high-end SoC Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The ROG Phone 6 Pro has 18GB of built-in large-capacity LPDDR5 memory, while the ROG Phone 6 has 12GB or 16GB of built-in large-capacity LPDDR5 memory, and the storage is equipped with up to 512GB of UFS 3.1.

The display is a 6.78-inch 2,448 x 1,080 dot AMOLED. The refresh rate has been improved from 144Hz in the previous model to 165Hz, the touch sampling rate supports 720Hz, and the touch latency can be reduced to as low as 23ms. It also boasts support for HDR10/10+, a color gamut that covers 111% of DCI-P3, and color accuracy of less than Delta E 1.

The cooling mechanism has also been greatly improved, with the new adoption of a thermal conductive grease made of boron nitride to suppress the occurrence of thermal throttling. In addition, the graphite sheet has been enlarged by 85% and the vapor chamber by 30%. The optional external cooler has also been upgraded to the "AeroActive Cooler 6," which is said to be able to reduce the surface temperature by up to approximately 25 degrees by using a fan and Peltier element in combination.

Gaming features include ARMOURY CRATE, the game assist tool GAME GENIE, and the EDGE TOOL function, which allows you to display other apps floating while playing a game. It also features the AIR TRIGGER 6 side button that uses an ultrasonic sensor, motion control functions, and gyro-controlled aiming. The AIR TRIGGER 6 can also be used for normal functions such as screenshots.

The battery is 3,000mAh x 2, for a total of 6,000mAh. It supports fast charging of up to 65W, and can be fully charged in about 42 minutes. In addition, it also has functions to suppress battery deterioration, such as slow charging, scheduled charging, and bypass charging.

The back of the case is equipped with a small ROG VISION display for the ROG Phone 6 Pro, and an Aura light for the ROG Phone 6. In addition, it is also equipped with IPX4 waterproofing, a first for a gaming smartphone.

Memory and storage configurations are 12GB memory/256GB storage or 16GB memory/512GB storage for the ROG Phone 6, and only 18GB memory/512GB storage for the ROG Phone 6 Pro. Both are equipped with Android 12 (ROG UI) OS.

The camera has a triple lens configuration with a 50-megapixel wide-angle/F1.9, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle/F2.2, and a 5-megapixel macro/F2 on the back, and a 12-megapixel/F2.4 on the front.

Wireless functions include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC (not compatible with FeliCa). Positioning methods include GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo/QZSS/NavIC, and sensors include acceleration/electronic compass/light/proximity/gyroscope/ultrasonic. Biometric authentication functions include face and in-screen fingerprint authentication.

There are two Nano SIM slots for the SIM card. Supported bands are 5G n1/2/3/5/7/8/12/13/18/20/25/26/28/38/40/41/48/66/71/77/78/79, LTE Band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/29/30/32/34/38/39/40/41/42/43/48/66/71, W-CDMA Band 1/2/4/5/6/8/19, GSM 850/900/1,800/1,900MHz.

The interface is equipped with USB 3.1 Type-C (left side, USB PD 3.0/video output compatible), USB 2.0 Type-C (bottom), dual front speakers, triple microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, etc.

The ROG Phone 6 is available in two colors, Phantom Black and Storm White, while the ROG Phone 6 Pro is available in Storm White. Both are 77 x 10.4 x 173 mm (width x depth x height) and weigh 239 g.

There is also a special model, the ROG Phone 6 BATMAN Edition, in collaboration with Batman. The price is 154,800 yen.

Based on the ROG Phone 6 (12GB memory), the Aura RGB LED illumination and theme pack feature a collaborative design with Batman. Accessories such as a batarang-shaped SIM eject pin and packaging are also special specifications.
