French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Melding form with functionality, french door refrigerator with two freezer drawers-door refrigerators have stylish double doors that open to an enormous fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We asked Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right home. They considered storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

As the name suggests, GE's Profile series is targeted at those who want to incorporate cutting-edge features in their kitchen. This refrigerator has it all, from a Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door to a sophisticated dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator costs a premium, I expect better.

This fridge is a good choice, despite the small blip. It boasts a spacious freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth french door fridge only door fridges, and it can hold a decent amount of frozen food as compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about what you would expect from the size of a French door refrigerator that costs this much. It has a decent sized icemaker in the left door. But, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in each compartment to create a custom storage setup for what you want to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is attractive, too. The LED lighting adds an attractive accent. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls so that you can set them for Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to shut and open however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in world, and offers a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when the door is left unlocked and when the fridge or freezer must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill it's an option in a few other GE fridges that allow you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense simultaneously. It does offer a countdown feature on the fridge's display to show how much water you have left, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch french door fridge no plumbing-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to look like it's a seamless component in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also boasts a veggie compartment that helps keep vegetables and fruits fresher longer, and two compressors to ensure maximum preservation of food. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient fisher and paykel french door integrated fridge produces the shape of a pyramid using only water. This refrigerator is a great option for a single family or kitchenettes who want a built-in look and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to avoid freezing burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour, and maintained the temperature throughout our tests.

Bosch is known for its high-end appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and manage your fridge remotely using your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is costly and has great features and functions at a fair price.

While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment, it's important to know the limitations. It has a limited shelf space, so you may need to be creative when storing tall objects. The shelves aren't spillproof and can easily be stained or damaged by sharp items. It's simple to remove the trays in the fridge however, you must keep them clean to avoid mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is an excellent counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage in a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins at each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves, and a set of more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to give taller items more space. There's also a full-width drawer to store products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the great things about this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it simple to move the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, as well, such as sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of items. It also has a large container to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is another cool feature of the refrigerator. It lets you control the fridge's temperature and lighting from your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator than other refrigerators we test. This could be due to the greater capacity.

The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door refrigerator that won't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a simple fridge that might not be as attractive as its rivals however, it does have enough features to make it a an excellent choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser, as well as an excellent ice machine that works fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located above the two crisper bins, is another excellent feature. This drawer lets you redirect a portion of the fridge's cooling power to this area so that you can keep food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray significantly from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge's temperature.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey body that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
