Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs car seats are multi-functional, multi-purpose partners of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots for your child's journey.

A pram newborn is designed for newborns and babies. It has a deep, sturdy carrycot with soft and safe walls.

A pram is equipped with a bassinet, but it can also be converted into a stroller if the baby is ready.

Safety

Find a stroller that allows your baby to ride in the recommended position of lying flat. This position helps support the baby and helps prevent a potentially dangerous spinal curve that could cause spinal issues. It also reduces the chance of SUID (Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome) or asphyxiation, by keeping the airways free. Most prams that are used from birth will have the seat unit, which will recline into a lie-flat pram mode for babies younger than the age of one and transform into a compact pushchair unit for older children.

The suspension of the pram will determine how smoothly it rides. A pram that has many spring suspensions will cost more however, it's worth the extra expense if you plan to use your pram every day for a couple of years or more.

Find a pram that has two shoulder straps (ideally padded) and a sturdy five-point safety harness that fits your bub's body securely. Check that there are no gaps or loose places where fingers could be trapped. Also make sure the buckles are simple for older children to use. Also, consider if you'd like an adult-facing pram. It is ideal to keep an eye on your child and makes them feel more secure having their parents around.

You should also be able to keep changing and shopping bags inside the basket beneath (although be aware that putting on too much weight can cause it to tip over).
