WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the Item Level upgrade has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrading used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade item your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. Another notable change is that crests only have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
