How to Replace an audi replacement key cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located Near By the edges of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can start spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are different pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. Examine for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at maximum speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones that have gazoline pop right out. The fourth one remains closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, replace audi key shell key (daojianchina.com) UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). 4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to an engine shutdown.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire in gear. If you have any of these issues, it is likely your sensor is deteriorating and needs replacing. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially when they're an Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of issues with your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi a3 spare key's transmission, because it communicates to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other components of the car to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It sends a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points.
