Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in a linear increase in any stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which could increase their stats.

The only exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the attention of the viewers and trigger interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in communicating a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also increase the recall of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph increases the value of a stat by a certain range. This is displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is the maximum value that the glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the item that you are admiring.

The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

You can remove any glyph with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it in the form of money or food items that would allow players to modify their build without spending too much time and energy. Leveling
