Persija Jakarta started their BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season with a commanding display. The team secured a 3-0 victory over Barito Putera in their opening match of Week 1, played at Jakarta International Stadium on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Gustavo Almeida was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick with one goal in the first half and two in the second half. With this win, Persija joins Persib Bandung and PSM Makassar at the top of the standings, all having achieved big wins.

Arema FC has been busy in the transfer market right up until the final day of the BRI Liga 1 transfer window for the 2024/2025 season. The Singo Edan has completed their quota of eight foreign players for the 2024/2025 season. Pablo Oliveira is the latest foreign player recruited by Arema FC. The 29-year-old adds a strong Brazilian flavor to Arema FC. Arema FC is now bolstered by five Brazilian players: Dalberto, Lucas Frigeri, Thales Lira, William Marcilio, and Pablo Oliveira. Moreover, Arema FC has a Brazilian head coach and assistant coach. Meanwhile, Persija Jakarta has released many of their young players. Persija Jakarta attacked from the outset. Almeida opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header that was deflected by Buyung Ismu. Barito Putera pushed forward and created several opportunities but could not find the equalizer before the break. Barito Putera continued to press in the second half, but it was Persija who increased their lead with a penalty from Almeida in the 71st minute. Almeida completed his hat-trick with another goal 10 minutes later, sealing a 3-0 win for Persija. The scoreline remained 3-0 until the final whistle.

Persib Bandung has officially introduced their squad for the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season. A total of 30 players were unveiled at the Pesta Rakyat Persib event held at GOR C-Tra Arena, Bandung, on Sunday, August 4, 2024. During the launch event, five new players were presented to the Bobotoh supporters. The new signings include Mateo Kocijan, Dimas Drajad, Adam Alis, Gustavo Franca, and Mailson Lima. This season, besides competing in BRI Liga 1, Persib will also participate in the AFC Champions League 2, following their BRI Liga 1 championship win last season.
