Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you're looking for a buggy to jog with or just a nifty stroller to tackle the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight places.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram with air-filled tyres and look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.

MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with the newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it to be extremely durable. It was able to withstand grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.

The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. You want the seat to be big enough to allow your child to feel comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer a full lie-flat option while others only allow for a parent facing one.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain, with the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed with the way it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was very stable going downhill or on a rough terrain."

This is something you should be aware of when your home is one of the cities. If this is the case, a 4-wheeled buggy may be the better choice for you.
