UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles match the critical dimensions of the old handle.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to assist you.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of robust materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to fix them. They can be easily installed on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shortened lever is also an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the upvc door locks and handles door. This measurement is often known as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the proper PZ size it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are usually rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and simpler method to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after use. In the past, a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also stops your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position, as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They are supplied in a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
