1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

If this sensor fails the ECU will throw an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky because there are two connector pins, and they serve different purposes but the most effective method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, I experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not certain what to do, as i believe that i've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is simple to test them by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector).
