World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

item level upgrade upgrading allows players to boost an item's gear score up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like an ideally rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is generally beneficial however, it could have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are very lucky.

The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their performance. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may change its roll to a lower value.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. You'll need anywhere between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in cold environments with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with friends.

Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanics of potions. For instance, splash potions now have an average duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds displayed on the item upgrades hover display). The potion table can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they're no longer useful and allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are an attractive alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't replace anytime soon (such as rings or cloaks). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players and they want to upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher level once they are no longer useful and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
