Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components

A special item can be used to develop specific Pokemon. The Upgrade is made by spinning a PokeStop photo disc. It is sometimes offered as a prize at Pokemon GO events.

The Upgrade can also be placed in armor, weapons trinkets, and gathering tools to increase the level of their item upgrader kit. The upgrade costs Flightstones or crests, based on the type of item.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to offer attribute bonuses or additional effects when the equipment is used. The item upgrades being upgraded must be equipped with an upgrade slot to accept the component, and the majority of upgrade components require the item upgrader kit being upgraded to be above an amount. Certain upgrade items come with special visual effects that can be seen when they are applied. Upgrade components can be obtained through crafting, bought from Karma merchants, or exchanged with other players through the Trading Post. They can also be rescued from equipment and used as rewards.

Various upgrade components are available, each offering various bonuses. Universal upgrades like gems and inscriptions are able to be applied to any type of equipment. They offer fewer bonuses than other kinds of upgrade component. Infusions are able to be used on non-amulet and legendary ascended items, and enrichments are able to be used on ascended back equipment. Inserting an upgrade component will destroy the previous upgrade. The only exceptions are glyphs that can only be placed into gathering tools, and enchantments. Both can be removed and then reinserted.

Insignias or enchantments, as well as upgrades with prefixes or suffixes will be displayed in the hover display of the item while they are added to the equipment's name (e.g. the word Radiant Insignia would change the name to Radiant Tyrian Armor). The number of upgrade components that have been added to an equipment piece will be displayed in the tooltip for the item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are special characters that can be inserted into an OpenType font to add decorative or functional elements, like ligatures and ornaments, fractions, swashes registered trademark symbols, and ellipses. The Glyphs Panel allows you to insert and examine these special characters, as well as common symbols like em and en dashes, as well being trademark symbols registered to be used.

Each Glyph gives a character boost in primary stats. It also comes with up to four Secondary Stats that affect the radius of the glyph on your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a percentage increase that is multiplied by additional bonuses, with the exception of Speed Glyphs that directly increase the speed of the hero.

Selecting the Glyphs and then clicking "enchant" will activate the Glyphs. This will open a window that shows the Glyphs available to you. You are only able to apply the correct Glyph to the selected item. Every weapon or jewelry piece has its own collection of Glyphs.

You can increase the level of Glyphs by completing Tree of Whisper Quests or Nightmare Dungeons. The more difficult the dungeon is, the greater Glyph experience you will gain. Once a Glyph attains level 15, it can be upgraded by the Glyph Upgrade Altar. Upgrading a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.

When a Glyph is at the desired level, it is possible to activate it. Select it, then click the "enchant button". The Glyph you create will provide its stated bonus, and also boost other nodes within its radius on the Paragon Board. It's important to place Glyphs where they will be most beneficial to your build, and that is why it's recommended to prioritize Magic Glyphs early on. Rerolling

Sets

However it's important to remember that not all set items are candidates for upgrading. Some sets, like the FB Sorc spec's Whistan's Shield or Naj's Puzzler staff, are already Elite and Exceptional in their own right and don't require upgrading. Certain items, such as Goldwrap and Whistan's Shield (both BiS) that are frequently used may require an upgrade to increase their stats. For such items, it could be worth the extra cost to upgrade them.
