The Lightest, Most Compact and Easiest to Fold Travel Strollers

1. Lightweight

The most important aspect of a great travel stroller is that it must be lightweight and easy to fold. The top models we tested fold down with just one hand (and sometimes two) and fit into overhead luggage compartments. Each model was put to the test on country roads, city streets, and at the airport terminal for mobility, ease of folding and carrying, as well as overall comfort for your child.

It's more expensive than the other models in the same category, but offers additional features, including a spacious cupholder and parent pocket, an adjustable handlebar to accommodate parents of all heights, and a comfortable carry strap. Its simplicity is sacrificed for a bit of durability compared to other models in this category, however.

2. Folding is easy

If you're constantly on the move, a travel stroller needs to be easy to open and close. If you have a bag of groceries, or children in your arms you don't want to struggle with a cumbersome stroller to close it. The best travel strollers fold up easily and compactly, even with one hand. Many have a padded strap that you can put comfortably over your shoulders.

In our tests in our tests, the Libelle stroller scored highly for its ease of folding and compact size. However, it also has some great features: It can roll effortlessly over all surfaces and has a generous canopy that gives plenty of coverage. It's also light and stands up by itself when folded. It's a bit larger than the umbrellas of the brand but folds more compactly than their G-Luxe or G-Link counterparts. It also comes with a shoulder strap that is cushioned.

3. Easy to store

The Contours Itsy travel stroller is an excellent choice if you are looking for a compact, lightweight stroller. The Contours Itsy comes almost fully assembled and all you need to do is put in the bumper bar. It comes with a parent cup holder and a back pocket, but no oversized basket, which could limit your ability to pack essentials for long trips.

If you're frequent travelers, we suggest that you consider a more robust stroller with more features and the ability to hold more cargo. The UPPAbaby Mini, for example has many of its G-Luxe and G-Link siblings however it's smaller and folds much faster. It is also slightly more durable than an umbrella stroller, and has a padded strap to help lift some of the burden off your shoulders.

4. Confortable

Comfort is key when using strollers for extended durations of time. Find seats with plenty of padding and a recline feature that allows you to set it at multiple angles. Also note whether the canopy extends to give coverage from the sun and if it comes with mesh windows that allow airflow. If you need to carry items with you, consider a model with a parent facing pram organizer/cup holder and an ample storage basket underneath the seat. When looking for a child jogger, make sure to check the age range. Also, consider whether your child is comfortable in the seat, even without a car seat.

The way a stroller is rolled is also crucial. It must be able to roll easily over various surfaces including smooth hardwoods, shag carpets to cobblestones, and gravel. It must also be able to handle stairs and curbs with ease. If your travel plans involve a lot of walking, you should choose a stroller that is light to avoid back and leg soreness.

A high-quality travel triple stroller is one that is easy to use, as well. It should assemble in under 30 seconds and be able to snap together when it is popped into the correct position. It should also be able fold flat and fit in the boot of a car or the overhead compartment of a plane. It should also remain upright when folded so that you can pick it up by one hand and hold your child in the other.
