World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the level of an item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it is capable of causing. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item level.

On PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the amount an item upgrader kit's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

This is not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance it can increase the item level upgrade's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item level upgrade determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it is an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
